I’m Carlie (she/her).

I am a digital product designer based in California with 6 years experience crafting human-centered, civic-minded services.

I am currently a Staff Product Designer at Code for America, where I design and deliver digital benefits applications for states across the U.S. My work with the state of Minnesota has been featured in NYT, Fast Company, and on PBS News Hour and helped 240,000+ people access $100 million in safety net benefits over the course of 2 years.

Previously, I worked at General Motors where I supported the design and launch of a new car-sharing service, Maven. This experience nurtured my long-held passion to explore design’s role in the future of transportation and clean energy.

My design approach is informed by my early career in communications and grassroots organizing. I have helped organizations amplify their brand, influence voters, manage projects, and deliver services at scale. It is precisely this mix of experiences that makes me a valued team member and versatile designer.

I received a Masters in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon, where I was named Class Speaker and Chair of Graduate Student Assembly. Prior, I studied Communications and Urban Planning at Virginia Tech.
